The Intention Behind the Intention

Published by gia combs-ramirez at 3:41 pm under Law of Attraction

It’s that time of year. After an excessive month or two of too much spending, eating, and making merry (or miserable!), the new year rolls in and it’s time to make resolutions. Making resolutions feels as fantastic as going to confession, if you ‘re a Catholic. I have sinned, and will sin no more! At least for the first month or so. Since the world wide phenomena of The Secret, resolutions are now called “Intentions.”

But here’s a secret: your intention or resolution will have a better chance of manifesting if you look at the intention behind the intention. In other words, what’s driving you to make the intention? Are you feeling slightly disgusted or repulsed with your body and that’s why you resolve to lose weight and get in shape? (or quit smoking, drinking, etc). Feeling that you’re not worthy, listened to or acknowledged and that’s why you resolve to get a raise?

Any intention that is being driven from a negatively charged emotion only accentuates the negatively charged emotion. The universe is not fooled. It reads the negatively charged emotion and responds to that. “I’m not worthy” is communicated energetically and everyone treats you accordingly. You won’t get a raise if the emotion is negatively charged.

Below are 5 simple steps that you can use to create a positively charged emotion from which you can create a dynamic intention or resolution:

  1. Get in touch with the negative emotions. Acknowledge them so they move through. They are the indicator that it is time to grow in some area of personal development. Appreciate them for acting as signals but do not give them any more merit than that.
  2. Connect to your heart and recall something that you did that creates feelings of love, appreciation and gratitude. Send these feelings throughout your self and become inspired with yourself.
  3. From this place, ask yourself what is needed at this time to bring your life in alignment with your highest potential. Continue to feel inspired and affirming with love, appreciation and gratitude while you patiently wait for the answer. The answer will come from deep within you. Allow it to resonate through yourself and then finally speak the words.
  4. Decide what you could do in the next 5 minutes that would be a tiny step of physical action affirming your commitment to your intention.
  5. Do the physical action.

Everyday, continue to create small 5 minute, 10 minute and 15 minutes steps that reaffirm your commitment to your intention.

Your innate wisdom and the universe will do the rest.
