Taste is one of the five far senses. These senses bring us external information. The brain must then interpret this information so that we can make appropriate responses. The far senses also provide stimulation to the brain. Stimulation is just as much a nutrient as food and water as the brain needs stimulation to continue to grow. Salty, sweet, sour, bitter and endless combinations of these flavors stimulate the brain. Higher sense perception in tasting is experienced as savoring life.

The Guides speak:
All senses work together. Taste is heightened when the sense of smell is sharp. If the sense of touch is hypersensitive, the feel of food may affect taste. Your vision provides a sharpening of taste, (or the contrary) through anticipation. All senses are made to be in the present moment. If your energy still lies predominantly in the past, you may link traumatic events to taste. If your energy is always in the future in worrying, dreams or visions, then you don’t notice the moment.

Listen to the Balancing the Sense Meditation, and today’s meditation, then state:

“In gratitude to Creation energies, I balance service and self-responsibility with play.”

Note from gia: Cleanse your palate periodically with a light fast. When you brush your teeth, also brush your tongue. Eliminate salt and excess sugar from your food.
