Developing Leaders | Visionaries

Note: This is the second in a series on leadership. It is my understanding that to help bring about change we must all become leaders in our families, our communities, and our selves. The old paradigm belief systems that building more commerce and more wealth at the expense of the planet and humanitarian rights are no longer sustainable. The underlying question about this series is: What are the new paradigms that we are becoming leaders for? This is the realm of the visionary leader.

The visionary leader has eagle vision. Able to see above the concerns of mass consciousness which are focused on survival, the visionary leader sees the roadmap of evolution and the expression of soul purpose. Although the third eye and crown chakras must be open and developed in a visionary leader, there is a third element that is very important to becoming a true visionary leader: the ability to embrace change.

There is truly only one constant in life and that is change. All living species, except humans, accept change as a natural part of the expression of life. (You haven’t ever seen a tree try to hold on to its leaves in the fall have you?) Trying to stop growth, the essence of change and one of the qualities of life, is wasted energy as it is inevitable. Imagine the surfer who swims out to the wave and holds up her hand to stop it. How futile would be that action? But when the surfer joins with and rides the wave, then the surfer becomes empowered and vibrantly alive. This is how you can begin to work with change in your life.

The visionary leader has the natural gift of inspiring others. The act of speaking a true and authentic vision energetically elevates people and opens them to their multidimensional selves where they can access their fullest potential. Often the spoken vision “re-members” people, bringing them back to the authentic self-knowing that everyone carries inside.

Positive Aspects of the Visionary Leader

In Angeles Arrien’s book, The Four Fold Way, she speaks about the qualities needed to be a visionary. They are:

  • Tell the truth without blame or judgment
  • Know and communicate Creative Purpose and Life Dream
  • Act from your authentic self
  • Honor the four ways of seeing which are intuition, insight, perception and vision.
  • Master meditation, dreaming, visioning and contemplation

The Challenges of the Visionary Leader

The power of groups is so potent that to speak differently from the group can raise a primal fear of being demolished or banished by the group. This can be a point of self-abandonment, if we choose out of fear to not speak of our visions. Telling the truth of our visions without judgment or blame is accomplished by moving into the authentic self or the core essence and speaking with a vibrational resonance that can not be ignored or denied.

The visionary leader must also be able to create psychic space and clarity for herself to access the soul’s point of view over the biological point of view. The visionary must also understand higher sense perception and the unique perceiving signature that each one of us has.

One unique challenge for the visionary leader is physically expressing visions and soul purpose. By nature the vision is associated with the spiritual and mental subtle bodies as they are “seen” by the 6th and 7th chakras. To express a vision for a group or your own soul purpose requires bringing that vision “out of the clouds” and down into the small intestines to be embodied before anchoring it into the muscles through action.

Timing is also a challenge for the visionary. Visions happen outside of time and space constraints. Discernment needs to be used to determine when the vision is expressed. Sitting with a vision in contemplation, embodying it fully and then acting upon it or expressing it can be a process over a long period of time. Visions are always ahead of where we are in the present moment. Until we reach the same vibration as the vision we will not be able to express it.

One of the most potent visions I ever had was of a huge column of light that was beaming down on Earth. There were many groups linked to this evolutionary light helping to anchor it in. I felt myself say “Yes!” to this vision and saw myself helping in the anchoring. Coming back from that vision I interpreted it to mean that I must start a healing school. I immediately gathered together a unique group of individuals and developed a program. For two years I tried to get the school going, but it never took off. Finally, I let it go. Within three months Crystalline Consciousness Technique was born, channeled quite unexpectedly by myself and Lexi Sundell. CCT is an entirely new form of working with subtle energy and over the years it has become the “school” that I had envisioned. It took me several years to realize that it is also the evolutionary light that I had seen in my vision. There are elements of this vision I am still learning about. It’s exciting work as it unfolds in its own way and timing.

Contemplative Questions for the Visionary

  • What part of my life is asking for a vision?
  • Can I speak the truth of my vision without judgment or blame?
  • When am I accessing and expressing from core essence?
  • How can I increase my intuition?
  • Am I comfortable with change and growth on all levels?
